Connecting Brussels

Do you feel lonely? Do you need help? Do you want to help others? Or do you have a good idea for an initiative that connects people?

Walk with a buddy

Are you tired of sitting home alone? Would you like to go for a walk, but not to alone? Connecting Brussels and the VGC sports service bring Dutch speaking walkers together.

Looking for a 'walking buddy' and eager to practice your Dutch? Then register via the website 'Brussel wandelt' (in Ducth).  We will match you based on your interests,  your neighbourhood and your age.

Moving increases your resistance. And it gives you a mental energy boost. Especially if you move together.

Respect all the corona rules. We link 2 to a maximum of 4 walkers.  Keep your distance during the walk.

Make someone happy with a drawing or postcard

Many Brusselers are alone, do not receive visitors and feel lonely. Receiving a postcard, a drawing or a letter gives them a lot of pleasure.

Bring or send your drawings, postcards and letters to:
VGC
Algemene directie Welzijn, Gezondheid en Gezin
Emile Jacqmainlaan 135
1000 Brussel

Or mail them to info@connectingbrussels.be with the subject: VGC-brievenactie.

Send 2 free greeting cards with Bpost's Mobile Postcards app. With promocode 'CONNECTLOVE' you can make someone happy with a nice photo, drawing or friendly word until 20.12.2020.

We collect all the drawings, postcards and letters and distribute them at various residential care centres, youth centres, institutions for people with disabilities ...

Thank you very much!

Connecting partners in Brussels

VGC, COCOF, Muntpunt, Steunpunt Vrijwilligerswerk Brussel, la Platforme francophone du Volontariat and Bruzz join forces in the trilingual platform ‘Connecting Brussels’.
The goal? To combat isolation and loneliness by stimulating connection.

In the spring of 2020, these partners were already working together under the title ‘Brussels helps’. Even more than then, the focus this winter is on resilience and solidarity to combat social isolation and loneliness.
