"Brussels is not a perfect city, but you can really find yourself at home there"
Brussels has a great many community centres, cultural centres, sports centres and all kinds of associations that organise activities and bring people together. There are often exchanges between those organisations to appeal to a wider audience. This was also how Hari and Toon got to know each other. Hari is one of the founders of Annapurna Brussels Club and Toon is a sociocultural worker at community centre De Rinck. They see bringing people together and forming a community as an important form of connection.
In a city like Brussels, where nationalities and cultures live close together, friction can arise, Hari and Toon explain. But this is precisely why community-building and collaboration are so important, they argue. Their commitment is closely tied to their love of the city: They feel very much at home in Brussels.
