"Together, we discover the city in a new light"
Eva and Alvine met in 2021 through the CoNnect buddy project of the VGC and FMDO. This project brings together new and not-so-new Brussels residents. Eva and Alvine went out together and discovered Brussels in a new way. Two years later, they still meet up. Their buddy relationship grew into a valuable friendship.
Although Eva and Alvine take a very favourable view of Brussels, they also recognise that many difficulties and barriers remain, especially for newcomers. Alvine says that, as a newcomer, it is sometimes difficult to build your life in a new city. "Finding a job is not easy. But finding a job does help you become more independent." They dream of a city where all newcomers are given the same opportunities.
